Exercise Fights Cancer

Yes, it's true. If you didn't already have enough reasons to exercise, this one is a real kick-in-the-pants.

Recent studies now show that exercise not just prevents cancer, but also helps the body destroy cancer cells when cancer is already present. More research is still needed to determine exactly how, but in the meantime, just know this: exercise fights cancer!

Keep in mind, this news is added to all the good (and GREAT) stuff we already know about exercise. For example, exercise is not just good for your body, but also helps your brain stay sharp. Dance, in particular, seems to be especially helpful for the memory. Aerobic exercise helps keep the brain from aging. And exercise has been proven more effective on depression than many drugs prescribed to lift the mood.

What kinds of exercise are most effective against cancer? It appears that higher intensity exercises, like lifting heavy weights and sprinting (fast, short bursts) are best. But the longer (duration) and the more times per week (frequency) you work out, the better. Basically, when it comes to fighting cancer, the answer may be: more is MORE and not less.
